Yes a 100 mile run!
The first runner finished in about 20 hours and the last runner ran for about 38 hours. This was such a great, fun experience.
On Friday night we set up camp and then sat around the fire, while Derek made hot dogs! At a few hours around the fire we decided to hit the sleeping bags since we had a long day ahead of us. We woke up early Saturday morning, to drive about 12 miles to set up our aid station. We were located at mile marker 88. And we had to be there from 10 am till 3 am. The runners would come at all different times and by the time the runners got to us, they were very tired, delusional, and surprisingly happy. We we were there to provide them with food, drinks, meds, and encouragement. We had everything at our table, snickers, m&ms, little debbie snacks, BBQ, all flavors of chips, popcorn, bananas, carrots, pb and j, and more!!!
I would have to say that more than half the runners were 40 and older and only a hand full were 30 and younger. My favorite runners were two ladies running together (probably in their late 50s early 60s) and they died their hair purple to match their purple shirts, they were so joyful and in such great shape!
Like I told my mom, it was so inspiring, but not enough to make me go run 100 miles. :O)
We met so many great people during this time and I am looking forward to doing it again.
