My girlfriend threw a wine tasting party last night. We all had to bring a bottle of wine in the $9-$20 range and then something to accompany it! Let's just say my friends are awesome, and brought delicious wine and food! I brought goat cheese with honey, which I woke up contemplating having for breakfast! And La Finca Malbec 2010. I am on this huge Malbec kick right now. (ya-ya so i cheated on the price...oops)...oh well it was in the top 2 favs, so I don't feel too bad!
then once we all arrived, the host brown bagged them
all and gave each a number
we gathered our plate of food, remember i said it was amazing! we had an assortment of Olives and hummus, chocolate covered strawberries, an assortment of cheeses, veggies, crackers, fig & goat cheese bruschetta, mini chocolates, etc ya...everything was delish!
then we had our sheets we filled out for every wine, based on taste, smell, complexity, balance, etc we rated them all and then tried to pick out the things we were smelling and tasting!
something like this:
A nice dark black cherry red. A fairly simple nose, some blueberry, raspberry, a little bit of a grassy note. Very clean on the palate, black and blueberries, not complex, but the fruit is bright, fresh and tasty. The tannins are very subdued, Malbec can be a tannic wine, but not the La Finca. A light dark berry finish, that does not last very long.
the other red wine we all LOVED & winner of the night was Apothic Red!
You must try!
i think you all should go have your own wine tasting party!
we will def. be doing this again!
cheers!
